Revenge in The Count of Monte Cristo
Is vengeance unjustifiable or do 2 wrongs make a right? Should the men that triggered Edmond Dantes life too spiral downhill be gotten back or left alone? 3 men triggered Edmond Dantes to go to prison due to the fact that they were envious of him because of what he had. When Dantes is launched from prison he looks for vengeance on individuals that made his life spiral and made him lose whatever he had. Those three guys are Danglers, Fernand, and Caderousse. He succeeds in his vengeance and wanted the men to really repent for what they did too him. Dantes uses vengeance as an antidote for his sadness.
Danglers is a naturally evil guy. “Let us leave Danglers, had by the demon of hatred and attempting to breathe some wicked insinuation versus his pal into the ship owner’s ear” (Dumas 7). Danglers simply does not care if he hurts somebody it’s everything about him. His greed goes beyond even that of a king or totalitarian. “Oh, yes, I repent! I repent!” (Dumas 522). Danglers shows that he regrets his actions and the important things he did. It took him many years to lastly realize what he did and to truly regret what he did to Dantes. He did all of the important things he did to Dantes all due to the fact that he was jealous he had money, a great life en route, and was going to be the captain of the Pharaon.
Fernand was so deeply jealous of Dantes he could not see straight. “It does not matter, though; in the meantime, at least, he’ll wed the lovely Mercedes!” (Dumas 15). This demonstrates how deeply he liked Mercedes. Fernand needs to have never ever attempted to take Mercedes from Dantes, due to the fact that they explained true love. Caderousse was captured in between two paths and selected the incorrect way. “They ‘d offered me so much to consume that I objected as much as I had the ability to because state, but they told me the whole thing was only a joke.” (Dumas 104). Caderousse must have said something the next day when they detained Dantes. Caderousse needs to have stated no to all of the drinks and then possibly he might have stopped it. “A guy who implicates himself like that is worthy of to be forgiven.” (Dumas 105). Caderousse is kind of forgiven without understanding it. He genuinely did regret what he did and took it to heart. Caderousse could have changed the whole scenario and stopped the madness that took place simply if he would have said something.
In conclusion, the term vengeance has several significances. If you selected to attempt to describe or specify the word you would base it off of what you’ve been through. Individuals believe that vengeance is great and bad either way it’s a double sided sword so you might also just leave vengeance alone because practically every time something bad happens or somebody or something gets hurt. So even in your darkest days or saddest hours your antidote for the pain need to never ever be that of revenge.
