Conclusion 34. Bibliography 41. Introduction The disparities amid American health care delivery system and the Canadian health care delivery system are considerable in the vicinities of access, costs, continuity (governmental as well as private expenditures) and eminence. Although ease of access is also an imperative consideration, it is not usually taken into note as there are differences in ways in which health care access is assured by governments.

This paper hereby attempts to provide a brief comparison of Healthcare delivery system between United States of America and Canada.2. Health Care Delivery System: America vs. Canada2.1 AccessibilityEase of Access is one of the most important deliberations in the efficacy of a health care system. In terms of accessibility, there is no existence of universal health care in American healthcare delivery system. (Rapoport, 2009) However, the US government has implemented programs to assist deliverance of healthcare to the old-aged, disables, poverty-stricken and youths together with programs arising as an effect of “Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act” to endow with a guarantee to the people requiring emergency medicinal services irrespective of their fiscal capability (Shi, 2009) whereas, the Canadian health care delivery system ensures that all populace are granted with healthcare services though, coverage is not up till now widespread This is of unique significance as reports have indicated that people requiring critical medical services do not have access even to a standard physician.

(Rapoport, 2009) Hence, it can be said that even though Canadian healthcare policies facilitates accessibility to all but the American system, actually, delivers better access to patients requiring healthcare.2.2 CostsThe USA and Canada’s healthcare systems mutually comprises healthcare as one of the prime overheads in their balance sheets. In year 2007-08, America’s healthcare spending/citizen was noticeably upper than Canada, USA exhausted approximately $2,700 /person i.e. almost 15% of its GDP whereas Canada’s balance sheets recorded only $2,100 /person i.e. 9% of GDP.

(Rapoport, 2009) Personal expenditures in Canada are approximately $917 per person per year as compared to the America’s $3,372 /person/year including treatments for drugs, dental and eye treatments. (Rapoport, 2009)2.3 QualityAmerican or Canadian, healthcare of both are equivalent as both comprises highly qualified professionals and educational programs of both accentuate the significance of enduring learning and specialization via formal training, tutoring, seminars together with hi-tech implementations (Shi, 2009) but the quality of Canadian healthcare system is higher than the USA’s as Canada was 30th and the USA as the 27th amid WHO members together with in requisites of the citizen’s tangible health condition Canada was ranked as the 35th and the America was at the 72nd place in the ratings done by WHO in year 2006-07.

(Rapoport, 2009)2.4 Continuity of HealthcareThe continuity of healthcare deliverance is guaranteed in expressions of rationalizing of communiqué, patient track, information transmits or retrieval, costs minimization, patients comforts and range of services. (Shi, 2009) Both of competitors have enacted bylaws to protect misuse of patient’s case history and details pertaining to physician diagnosis and records. Albeit the two systems are comparable in stipulations of continuity, it is vital to take a note that America undoubtedly has gained a competitive edge over Canada via implementing the “managed care” which has enhanced its Heath care delivery system greatly resulting in bringing roughly 91% of US citizens under umbrella of managed care plans.

(Shi, 2009)3. ConclusionAs per the past researchers, it is revealed that patient contentment is superior in Canada as compared to America, but access to healthcare is inadequate in both nations. It might be argued that Canadians owns better accessibility to healthcare owing to the truth that all of its populace can easily consult a physician devoid of purchasing healthcare policies & insurances though, the elongated waiting, scarcity of hospital amenities and lack of healthcare professionals confine a lot of people from getting medicinal care.

(Rapoport, 2009)Access to healthcare is a dilemma in both nations and cautious contemplation is required to be implemented while tackling this issue. It is evident that in some issues Canada is better that USA and in some issues America is better than Canada. (Rapoport, 2009) Though this comparison it is learned that there is an intense need for both countries to learn from each other’s experiences and control budding costs in these times of global recession to provide inexpensive yet hi-tech healthcare to their citizens.

This paper had briefly discussed the comparisons in Healthcare delivery system of America and Canada in terms of Accessibility, Costs, Quality and Continuity of Healthcare.4. BibliographyRapoport, J.
