17th March - 2:00 pm Held at Lounge Event Management Members Abdulla Al-Hammadi Abdulrahman Al-Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Kuwari Rashid AL-Marri Ali Fahad (Title) Falconry in Qatar Event Bradford College Business School Table of Contents Table of Contents 2 Introduction Qatar is focused on to being a high level community capable of retaining its growth and offering a high quality of life for its entire people. For the tourism industry Qatar is most popular, where many people all over the world go to enjoy its natural beauty and its culture and other facilities. Qatar National vision has set out four directing concepts on the foundation of which the State of Qatar is designed to make a maintainable economic system and advance the quality of life of its people. The existence of Qatar Vision.2010 was phrased by Qatar development management committee in 2004. However, it came to effect in June 2005. It ewas implemented by Qatar citizens. Although it had excellent ideas, it had strengths and weaknesses to both the economy and the citizens of Qatar. For instance, implementation did not take place as planned. Poor individual judgments did not side with the committees decisions. The only strength was that it gave hope for economic development and improved living standards. Until the season 2030 growth in both the public and private areas will be based on the following four principles: Human growth – the growth and marketing of education among all to make a maintainable and flourishing community. Public growth – the growth is just to look after community and able to play a key role in developing international relationships. Financial growth – the growth is varied economic base to secure and sustain a high quality of life in the future. Ecological growth – to keep things in balance between economic and social growth and ways is defending the environment. Source: www.google.co.uk/search qatar vision 2030. Why we have selected this topic We have selected the common information of Qatar and the planning of the development of Qatar as our Event Management project topic. From the numerous topics, we have selected Qatar past and present is because this topic seems to be very exciting to us and has our interest. Qatar is one of the developed country and most well-known for their tourist’s fascination. By 2030, Qatar is created to be a high level community able of maintaining its progress and giving a high quality of life for the nation. We regarded this subject as ideal for us with possibilities to demonstrate our skills, creativeness and performance. Aim of the Project The primary aim of this project is to get the theoretical and practical awareness about the development of the country in different region and to acquire the knowledge about development of different region of Qatar and its plan for the 2030 vision. Objectives of the Project: Main objectives of our project are given below:- 1. Human improvement- To allow all of Qatar’s individuals to maintain a flourishing community. 2. Public improvement- To retain a just and looking after community based on great ethical requirements and competent of playing a popular part in the international collaboration for growth. 3. Financial improvement- To accomplish a aggressive and varied economic system able to meet the needs of and obtaining a higher quality of life for all its individuals for the present and the future. 4. Ecological improvement: to make sure balance between financial development, cultural growth and ecological safety. 5. Display and communicate this information. How these objectives will be accomplished These objectives will be achieved through collections of data and information, processing the same and present them well. We have to choose the most trusted and valid data sources and use the effective tools for data processing and presenting. As it is a group work, we have to divide the responsibilities among us and carry our own responsibilities more seriously and efficiently. We have to arrange several meetings among all the group members and discuss the development of the project, developing the strategies and further actions to meet all the project objectives successfully. Our Group: We have established a well founded team of individual abilities to accomplish this project; all the team members have common understanding, information, ideas and background scenes with different abilities. The team includes: Abdulla Al-Hammadi – Team Leader Ali Fahad – Video Director & Event Photographer Abdulrahman Al-sheikh – Event Design & Decoration Abdulrahman Al-Kuwari – Event items Rashid AL-Marri – Event Catering First Meeting: As this is a team, it was necessary to figure out the roles of the each member and assigned required tasks for the project. This meeting took place on February 2014 in the library, with the main agenda to pick an interesting topic. There were a lot of suggestion of topics that were put forward, but at the end the group agreed on the choice “Development of Qatar and the planning of it Vision 2030”. On agreeing of the topic the members also had to be assigned a specific roles and tasks as shown above in (Our Group), and there were other tasks that needed collective efforts that we also agreed to share. It was a great start of our journey for the event. After the second meeting things started to develop with the help that we got from the Tutor was amazing. All members put their efforts in as they were supposed to do, as the group leader I could see that my leadership skills were of gentle and persuasive approach, considerate of team members’ opinion. I felt that I needed to consider the opinion of the whole. On the event day all went well and all the members of the group were happy to realize that all the hard work had paid off from excellent feedback Ali Fahad I was very happy that the group members entrusted me with the work of directing the video and photographing. I accepted this task as I am fond with camera since I was 10 years old and I knew very well that I would give my best on this task. It was a challenge first to convince other students to be filmed and it took a lot of time and I was thinking in one moment that this will be a failure on my part as the director of the video. But I managed first to persuade my team mates to be filmed, which proved to be a good starting point. I had to plan for times with people and places even suggesting what to wear on the shooting, so that I don’t fail the team. But with a lot of dedication and commitment of all members of our group the event was a success. I am also proud of my work as all the group members and the visitors commended the professional editing and shooting that I had done to our video. I have also thought of approaching Qatar TV stations, in order to try and convince them to broadcast the video which will promote Qatari students who are working hard to promote the country in the UK. I have also thought of using this video to show my competency in photography and technology, which might give me opportunity in filming or broadcasting if I decide to pursue that career in future. Abdulrahman Sheikh. It was a pleasure to be assigned the task of designer and decoration artist by my group. I took upon myself to visit the venue where the event would take place, so that I could have a plan in hand before the event day, where things would be placed and check that we have all that we need in the venue. I was responsible in making sure that the venue looks attractive as possible, therefore I had to work in partnership with all members in many angles so that I don’t miss anyone contribution or opinion. I achieved my objective as the displays were eye catching at the correct height. I managed to meet one of the students that had done similar event last year whose valued experience was an additional benefit to the group. He gave advice relating to seating plans, and we appreciated a lot his input. One thing that I would want to improve in future is having more of female students in or group, as seven men and one lady was an imbalance. However, with the help and dedication and team spirit, help with the designing, colour choice, curtains and the leaving room cushions was achieved. The entire event was a great success and all the visitors were treated with special Qatar traditional delicacies and hospitality, and their feedback was excellent. When the event was over, I felt happy, relieved and so relaxed about the whole event and I felt more confident that I can do it again in the future. Abdulrahman Al-Kuwari Since the event was about Qatar, it was obvious that items from Qatar would be needed to be brought. I volunteered as group member that I would go to Qatar and bring all that we would need. In the meeting there were items that were suggested that would be needed to make the event a success. I obliged by making enquiries of prices and got approval for purchasing from the group, as this communication was vital to the group success Looking at the event day I would say that the success of it was due to preparations that we as a group took, I have come to appreciate the need of having meetings and keeping the minutes and checking on each other task if anyone was struggling or having any difficulties. The event was attended by many people of different backgrounds who had a chance to understand more about Qatar. Finally when I reflect to the whole event I feel that it was a success and I am very happy and proud of my achievement and the work that all members put toward the event. Rashid Almarri In every event people need to at least have something to eat in order to enjoy the rest of the event. I requested the group to allow me to take this task. Some of the members thought it was an easy one. But I took it with a lot of passion and determination in making the catering a success in my part, so that the overall event will be of high standard. In the event day I was very concern that the food was going to remain on plates, therefore I took the initiative to request one volunteer to direct the visitors to the catering area. I came to understand that at first visitors thought that the food was for sell in the event. Thus they were hesitant to come on the catering tables. In future I think it will be important to advertise in the leaflets that we would have free food so that this confusion doesn’t occur. After the event I was very happy that the event was a success and we were given positive feedback from the visitors which go to all the team members on their respective roles and commitments.
